Social Equity and Distributional Impacts

of Science and Technology


 

 

Phone Survey

With the purpose of tracing the citizens' experiences and preferences for S&T outcomes and preference, a survey on public perceptions and understanding of science and technology awas carried out. Specific lines of inquiry where:

  • perceptions about science and technology

  • views of government and science

  • views of science and scientists

  • views of ethics, experiments and human subjects research.

Many of the items in this survey are consistent with previous studies of perceptions and understanding of science and technology conducted by the Virginia Commonwealth University, Pew Foundation, and the National Science Foundation.

The survey was designed by Barry Bozeman and Mary Feeney at RVM, Georgia Institute of Technology. It was then implemented by Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) at Arizona State University administered to a national random sample.
